MORE SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED FOR THE ANNUAL MIDDLESEX UNIVERSITY LITERARY FESTIVAL

Renowned author of the play trilogy Making Noise Quietly Robert Holman. The Guardian columnists and feature writers Lucy Mangan and Tim Dowling, Edna Fuller Prize winner poet Alim Kamara and Alfred Fagon Award nominee poet and playwright Lizzy Dijeh are among the 15 first speakers confirmed to appear at Middlesex University Literary Festival 2010.
Now in its 15th year, the annual Literary Festival welcomes to the scenic Trent Park Campus a range of acclaimed authors to run workshops, read from their works and take part in panel discussions about their writing. The Literary Festival is arranged and run by students following the BA degree in Creative and Media Writing at Middlesex University’s School of Arts and Education.
Highlights of the 2010 Literary Festival are:
Exclusive visit and talk by playwright Robert Holman, who with almost 40 years’ experience has worked with the BBC several times as well as had more than 15 plays produced at prestigious theatres, including the Royal Court, the Bush and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Inspiring and enlightening talk by former Guantanamo Bay prisoner, lecturer and political commentator Moazzamm Begg, followed by q & a.
Workshop with acclaimed The Criminal actor and freelance writer Justin Shevlin who will help you get over your writer’s block with a virtual, concept-based Anti Writer’s Block Workshop.
A focus on journalistic methods and motives with the Guardian columnists and authors Lucy Mangan and Tim Dowling on the Journalism Panel.
Readings and talks by a team of Horror Fiction experts. Ramsey Campbell, Ellen Datlow and Lisa Tuttle will all travel to Middlesex University for the day from the International Horror Convention in Brighton.
A special live appearance by performer Eirini Kartsaki followed by q & a with the audience.
Readings from prominent talents Laura Dockrill, Lizzy Dijeh and Clive Bush on the Poetry Panel.
Workshop with Middlesex University graduate rapper, poet and storyteller Alim Kamara, who a lot to say and a passion for words, which he will be spreading in his Poetry Workshop.
An eye-opening multimedia appearance and talk by unconventional author and provocateur Sebastian Horsley.
An insight to the aspects of writing Children’s Fiction with Frances Hardinge and Oisin McGann.
A thorough exploration of the process of researching and writing Historical Fiction with Carol Gould.
Also during the two-day festival there will be Student Readings, screening of Student’s Short Films and a Photographic Exhibition profiling Middlesex University’s current young talents.

Attendance at all panel sessions, readings, talks and workshops is free of charge. The Festival takes place at Middlesex University’s Trent Park Campus. Nearset tube stations are Oakwood and Cockfosters, a free shuttle bus service runs between Oakwood station and the campus.
